MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA

All women in the surrounding Greenville area are welcome to join the Women’s Action Network. We are a nonprofit organization created to encourage and respond to the needs of women in the Greenville area. The success of Women’s Action Network depends on the involvement of women of all ages and backgrounds. The group is open to women who are interested in supporting each other and various initiatives for the group.
Membership fee is $50 per year which is used to support our many projects.
We would love to encourage women of all ages, backgrounds and life experiences to join us. We all have something to share and WAN offers a variety of committees and initiatives to suit everyone.

HERE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE WAYS WAN IS ACTIVE IN OUR COMMUNITY:

HatRack

We provide wigs, hats, and scarves – free of charge – to anyone suffering hair loss due to chemotherapy or other disease or treatment.

MarketPlace & Food Court

During the Danish Festival we transform beautiful Veterans Memorial Park into a hub of family fun with vendors, food court, and music.

Human Trafficking

Our goal is to work with community leaders to create a coalition and teach people what human trafficking means and how our children are at risk.

Woman of the Year

Each year we recognize a local area woman for her service to the community, achievement in her profession and commitment to her family.

SCHOLARSHIPS

WAN awards various scholarships to women that include the Audrey Malling Adult Scholarship and Graduating Senior Scholarships.

MEETINGS

The majority of the Women’s Action Network meetings take place the 3rd Monday of each month, at the Winter Inn, 100 N. Lafayette St. in Greenville. However, from time to time meeting dates and locations may change. For more information or to RSVP, please contact us via phone at 616-824-2003 or email at wanmontcalm@gmail.com.
Group members enjoy some socializing and networking before dinner. Our meetings consist of a program/guest speaker followed by updates on all the group’s activities and initiatives. We wrap up with more time for members to share professional and personal news. There is no cost to attend the meetings, however each member is responsible for the cost of their meal/drinks.
In addition to our regular monthly meetings, WAN members participate in other fun membership events throughout the year. There are also many opportunities to meet with committees as they work on special events and initiatives. This is a perfect time to network and to get to know each other better.

APRIL FUN NIGHT

Past events have been wine tasting, paint bar, learning to quill, etc.
Members look forward to the relaxing, entertaining and fun evening every year.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

We do not meet in July or August due to hosting our two fundraising events.  The projects we sponsor during the year are made possible by our members fundraising efforts.
In July we organize a golf scramble and during the Danish Festival we transform the Veterans Memorial Park into a hub of family fun with vendors, food court, and music.
Both events offer the members an opportunity to get to know one another while we work closely on planning working the events.

DECEMBER HOLIDAY PARTY

This is a fun casual evening for members only. In years past we have played minute-to-win it games, right/left games, held a clothing/accessory swap, had an ugly sweater contest and other unique games to get to know each other more.
